In collaboration with the office of Prince George’s County Council member Karen R. Toles (District 7) and Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission, This program focuses on students who attend Crossland, Central, Potomac, and Suitland High Schools.

The objective is to provide a leadership development program that exposes students, beginning in the tenth grade, to a three-year commitment involving information, activities, and opportunities that broaden their horizons and assist them in making informed decisions. Their first year prepares them to perform two years in  leadership and mentoring roles as well as development and facilitation of information and activities for incoming participants of the program.Since the beginning, participants have been exposed to topics such as career exploration, self-esteem, public speaking and presentation skills, college preparation, and financial management just to name a few. Participants also went on a field trip and spent the day at The Newseum and attended an HBCU college tour during their spring break.

Since its inception, 100% of participants completed high school on time, applied to college, were accepted to college, and received scholarships for college. That's worth celebrating!

Participants and staff meet on a monthly basis during the school calendar year. Sessions are held on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  If you know of someone who may be interested, please have them contact Brittany Anderson, Communication Coordinator, at 301-499-8872.
